About Dr. Griffard

Dr. Jared Griffard is a board-certified general surgeon, surgical intensivist, and certified life care planner serving the Las Vegas region and beyond. As Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV, he divides his time among clinical trauma care, surgical education, and administrative leadership in critical care programs. His daily practice includes emergency general surgery, trauma surgery, and surgical critical care at University Medical Center, one of the region's Level I trauma centers.

As the son of blue-collar parents, Dr. Griffard was no stranger to the fruits of hard work and rigor. He grew up in northern Idaho and was academically engaged from a young age. He was Valedictorian of his high school and attended Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, where he competed as a Division II swimmer, being recognized as a Capital One Academic All-American Men's At-Large 2nd Team for NCAA Division II athletes. He then began his medical training at University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno, Nevada and matched into a general surgery residency at University of Tennessee Medical Center - Knoxville in Knoxville, Tennessee. After graduating from residency, he moved to Connecticut to continue his surgical critical care training and acute care surgery training at Yale School of Medicine. He returned to Nevada as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In his free time, Dr. Griffard enjoys spending time with his wife, his daughter, and black goldendoodle. He is an avid Las Vegas Aces fan, attending most of the games with his wife as season ticket holders. He enjoys thrifting, listening to music (usually EDM), and remaining active on his Peloton.

Dr. Griffard believes that effective life care planning and medical expert testimony require more than textbook knowledge. They demand direct, repeated exposure to the injuries and patient populations being analyzed. His commitment to ongoing clinical practice ensures that his expert opinions reflect contemporary standards and real-world outcomes.
